Hooray, thank you for answering!

I did check in that morning at the information desk; I got a teeshirt (which I still wear :)) but no coin. Maybe they thought that since I'm a teenager I didn't want one or something... Kinda bummed, I'm starting a geocoin collection which is woefully bare. Would've liked to have one.

Guess I need to find a way to Pennsylvania and volunteer next year, eh? :-/

*wonders vaguely if anyone still looks at this forum*...

I know this is a little late in asking, but I just heard about geocoins that were given to volunteers for Geowoodstock, and I was wondering if that happened for GW8? I volunteered, but I never heard about a coin or anything while I was there (and I was there from 8 am til almost 5 pm). Was that just a thing of the past, or did I miss my chance at getting a coin? :-S

It was wonderful to help and I loved every minute of GW8, thank you so much for hosting such as awesome event!

Of course we do, just not daily like we used to.

Not really sure why you did not get a coin. Anyone who volunteered was supposed to come by the information desk and check in. At that time you received your volunteer coin and tshirt (until we ran out). Which area did you volunteer for?

So sorry you did not get one!!!!!

Funny, I was looking for a better image for the GeoRattler that I could use as the default image. I noticed someone (can't tell who) uploaded my crappy camera phone image... I don't mind, it's actually an interesting social experiment.

If you read this though, I found a better image at http://img.geocaching.com/track/display/0cc901ba-0881-48df-9b33-7beb818c68d5.jpg

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone could help with something. My daughter bought a trackable bracelet on either Saturday at GW VIII or Sunday at the Lost & Found. She doesn't remember the booth name and I have searched the sites of all the ones I could remember being there.

It is a nice looking rattlesnake with a red fabric expandable string. The tracking code starts 'GR'. I see I am able to attach a photo, thanks to the forum moderators for allowing that. Sorry about the quality, 1.3 MP camera phone...

Did anyone else purchase one of these or remember which vendor it would have come from? Any help would be appreciated, activation code, vendor name, web link, etc.

thanks.

Found it. It's a GeoRattler Geocoin. You can get the activation code from this site: http://www.cachezone.de/activation/

Group photo was awesome and we found ourselves easily because we were just to the right and slightly behind the guy with the fridge door. I know the people behind him were annoyed but we weren't blocked and made a great landmark.^_^

Great Group Photo. But, I need one taken a few moments later. There is this guy that just lifted his arm :-S to wave, and he blocked my wife and most of me. I have pics that I took from the ground, but then I am not in them.

We arrived too late as well and would like to get our packets. We were told they would be mailed to us. What do we need to do to get this to happen?

Topic : Vendor lanyards instead of GW lanyard

I appreciate all the work everyone did for GW, and I realize lots of decisions come down to money. With that said, I overheard many people very disappointed that they did not receive a GW8 lanyard, but instead a lanyard with a vendor name on it. There was no indication in the registration levels that one level would receive GW and others would not. If there was, it seems many of us missed the wording.

I was looking forward to adding another to our collection. :(

No complaining, but I just wanted next years planners aware that many were disappointed. And it if was meant to be that way, please spell it out clearer in the registration levels.

$35 Salmon level received vendor lanyard.
$45 Orca level received GW8 lanyard.
Both indicate just the word lanyard in registration description. (Still on GW8 cache page)
Orca states the extra $10 is a "donation". Nothing about an upgrade in lanyard type.

Very misleading.
Also, there were not even any available to purchase.

We did have a fun time though. Just wanted to let next years planners know. Thanks for the fun day & memories.

Hey there!!!

So glad you had a fun time!!!!

Yes, we all know that a few people were disappointed in not receiving a special lanyard / pathtag. That was a decision that was made 6 weeks prior to the event. We made sure everything was paid for and then we determined we had enough money to give back to the Orca and above level individuals, just our way of saying thank you to them for their support. It wasn't much, as we did want to give more, but money didn't flow that easily.

So, again, this wasn't planned all along, this was an after thought as we wanted to make sure we had enough money to cover everything. For the individuals who were upset about it, we are very sorry. We truly did not want to upset anyone, but when you are hosting an event of this size, we could not give everything to everyone as the cost was just too high.

Hope this makes sense. And if future hosts of GW's have enough capital to purchase lanyards and pathtags for everyone, I think that would be awesome!

Thanks!

Joey

Just a short note about attendance for this event. At last count, I had 243 Will Attends and as of today I have 493 Attended logs.
WOW!!! That has to be the largest CITO event ever!!! Again Thank You to everyone that signed the log and pitched in and helped

Once again, volunteering was one of the highlights of our GW8 trip (besides grabbing the Trifecta!). Where else can you meet and greet the last minute arrivals from Germany, and Australia? (And Jeremy!)
Thanks for the great time, and hope to see y'all in PA (volunteering of course!)

I can't find the number of attendees anywhere.... Could someone please let me know.

Thanx.... We had a GREAT time last weekend... Good job to all the MOO cachers.
Jeremy reported about 4500. As of today there are 1768 attended logs, so that would be around 2.5 people per log.

Yes, I arrived late, and tried to get my packet but it was too late. Can I reimburse someone to mail my entire packet to me?? I would greatly appreciate it. Or maybe if someone can get it to MMacGown when they get back form Alaska, she could bring it back to the east coast for me and I can meet up with her. I would also be willing to get Joe (CacheSafari) 's packet to him by mail if no one at GWVIII can do it. Who can help? Should I beg Jenn???

Ditto to what NEONCACHER said! Remlinger farms was the perfect setting, the flow of cachers was seamless, the atmosphere was great. But any place that holds thousands of cachers at one given time is sure to generate positive comments! :)
Glad we could make the trip from Iowa and get the Trifecta, meet so many new friends, and appreciate the beauty of the Pacific NW!
KUDOS COWWS for a great time!
Now we need to get y'all to Iowa for the IGO annual Hike-n-Seek!
